My mini-blog is for all those who are maybe struggling to make wishes for 2019 because life is a bit tough at the moment.
I was all ready to blog about my exciting 2019 wishes and plans but then in between Christmas and New Year my dad passed away. Although it wasn’t unexpected – he had been ill for quite sometime – it has still been a completely overwhelming shock. He was a fantastic dad and I miss him terribly.
Three years ago I know I would have struggled to cope. I was not in a good place. But after becoming involved with #WomenEd, embracing the #10% braver mantra and taking some time away from teaching I am more content with being me, less anxious and I am getting better at letting go of the things I cannot control. I am also improving at asking for help – the friends and family I have reached out to have been amazing and I know this will also be true when I let my school and colleagues know.
If you are in a similar position and not ready to make any big plans then surround yourself with kind and loving people and take all the time you need. This is all I can do at the moment. I’m will be taking it a day, week and maybe month at a time. My wishes for 2019 are on hold but I’m OK. And that’s good enough for now.
